What are some cute ways to style my new short hair?
Hi, I just got my hair cut yesterday. My hair has always been long, so this is the first time it’s ever been so short.
It looks EXACTLY like this:

I’m just wondering… is there any way I can style it differently than leaving it straight & teasing the back? It’s too short for a ponytail & I don’t think it will look right curled.
I’m 20 years old, so nothing too kid-ish
& I’m not going to cut it any more or permanently color it (I love my natural color)
& I would prefer no punk or emo styles, it’s just not my thing.
Any tips?

i would say go with slight waves or a messier look
but there is not a whole lot you can do with it without looking bad

I wore my hair like this for years. Of course, it wasn’t layered that much in the back; this is a hip rendition of an old style.
Short in the back, long in the front, it was called “ginched” or “sasooned”. Timeless.
So…… you can pull one side behind your ear and let the other side hang. Nighttime and very sexy.
You can pull the top back with a barrette, tease enough to blend with the layers and let the sides fall.
For formal, you can pull the long sides back, secure in the back with a bobby pin, and add a small curly hairpiece at the nape of the neck.
Different parts work. Back in the day,I often parted mine in the center. It works.
And there’s always the headband. You must admit for such a specific cut, it’s quite versatile.
Now that I re-read your question, you probably wanted pictures, but I had fun reliving my “when I had beautiful hair days.”
Now excuse me while I go cry.
